Who We Are

Welcome and thank you for visiting the Erie-Huron-Ottawa Educational Service Center's website. We hope you enjoy your time here and that you find our site to be informative and helpful.

Our agency is a regional educational services provider that supports and assists twenty-four (24) school districts and over thirty-five thousand (35,000) students in north central Ohio. Our services include special education programs, pupil auxiliary support, school improvement assistance, early childhood programs, gifted education programs, professional development activities, alternative education options, parent education programs, administrative consultation, graphic arts and media services curriculum development, school data analysis, student attendance monitoring, etc. We employ approximately four hundred individuals who provide these services and help the Center in carrying-out its mission of "helping all children realize their highest possible potential."

Center personnel are known for their commitment, dedication, hard work and expertise. They are the heart of our organization. We pride ourselves on being, "extraordinary people doing extraordinary things."

We operate under a specific set of principles:

Shining Stars

bullet Jeanne Lawrence and Mike Schwiefert for their work with the Firelands Challenge program. This season marks the twenty-seventh year of this competition which pits eighteen area high school academic teams in a "battle of wits." The challenge tests the mettle of some of the area's "best and brightest" students in the fields of mathematics, science, social studies, foreign language and literature.
   
bullet Edison High School for winning the 2008 Firelands Challenge and St. Mary's Central Catholic and Norwalk High School who tied for second.
   
bullet Paul Lockwood II for being presented with the Ohio School Boards Association's Award of Achievement. This honor is bestowed on school board members in recognition of their commitment to self-improvement, service to OSBA and work on behalf of their own board. Dr. Lockwood received his Award at the OSBA's regional spring conference in Bowling Green.
   
bullet There is a new round of New Horizons Grants that are due by March 14, 2008.
